I Tried Starbucks’ Mango Pineapple Frappucino

Hello, lovelies!

Yesterday I played pretend that I worked for Buzzfeed and went to try out one of Starbuck’s new summer drinks, the Mango Pineapple Frappuccino® Blended Crème. I was going to try the Berry Prickly Pear Frappuccino® Blended Crème because it was more Insta photogenic but I couldn’t convince myself that the combination of berry, prickly pear (cactus blossom), and milk could possibly taste good.

I was not one of the people who flooded to Starbucks when the infamous Unicorn Frappuccino® was released and I honestly don’t visit Starbucks as much as I used to as a teenager because there was only one close by to where I lived in college, but I have always been a Frappuccino® fan so I figured I would give it a shot.

My first impression of the drink was that it was aesthetically pleasing. Although it wasn’t a pretty pink, it was still a good lookin’ drink! My first sip is what destroyed all of my excitement. The drink is layered with a Mango Pineapple puree on the top and bottom and a Frappuccino® Blended Crème base in between. My first sip of the beverage consisted entirely of puree and it was thick and very sweet. I tasted the mango but I think it lacked the pineapple portion of flavor. The puree was way too strong to drink straight and thoughts of what people were saying about the blue part of the Unicorn drink flooded into my head.

I thought I had made the biggest mistake ordering this drink because when I lifted my straw to try the creme base alone, again, I wasn’t pleased. This drinks layers sort of remind me of a parfait in a weird not real fruit kind of way. I decided that my last resort was mixing it all together and that is when my success occurred. If you take anything from this article, my one piece of advice is before you even think about taking a sip, take your pretty photo of your drink if you desire, then destroy its beauty by mixing it thoroughly before attempting to drink it! After mixing, it tasted almost smoothie like with a hint of mango instead of the puree itself being so overpowering. I couldn’t have finished this drink if I would have kept it in layers but after trying it mixed together, I would probably order this drink again. I think I may even try the Berry Prickly Pear… maybe.
