Turn Comparison Into Inspiration

Hello, Donnas!

After reflecting a lot about how I could have achieved more success in 2017, realized that a lot of my plateaus were related to stress and comparison. I wanted the best for my blog last year and I think that I maybe wanted it a little too much. I expected that I would have a huge interactive audience and tons of social followers but I didn’t focus on what I wanted my brand to be. Instead I focused on what I saw others doing and what I thought my followers would like to see. Although that’s important, there’s a thin line between being well received and not being completely happy with the content you’re putting out there.

I realized the biggest factor behind this struggle was that I would see others on social media and blogging and all of their interactions and likes and become jealous of their successes. It would make me wonder if my content wasn’t good enough and why I didn’t have more readers.

I’m not trying to sound dreadful and don’t want to ramble on but I want to share that no matter where you are in life or what your passion is, it’s normal to feel jealous of others successes or to doubt your own ability to succeed. It’s something most of us experience but don’t want to admit. That is why I want to share my advice with you because it has helped me enter the New Year with an improved mindset.

To help you and I stay motivated, I have created a board of inspiring posts on my Pinterest and plan to add to it throughout the year. You can follow the board here so you can have fresh inspiring quotes in your feed more often! I have been seeing a lot of people put together inspiration boards for the year and think these quotes would be great to print out for that too! So far I have 10 quotes that I really think represent my goals for 2018 and want to share them with you.

This one is super important. I had to step back and remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is blogging success! It’s necessary sometimes to step back, take a deep breath and know that you’re doing the best that you can!

Going along with the same theme, things take time but quitting will only stump your progress. I have had blogging plateaus throughout the year and looking back, nothing suffered more than my traffic throughout those periods. If I hadn’t given in to my impatience, I would have had more traffic last year! This is relatable to any part of life, you won’t succeed if you don’t try!

For me, this is my devotion to writing posts every day and increasing my investment into the blog. I am spending less focusing on comparing my successes to others and instead writing more content of my own so I can look back when I am successful and be thankful that I made these choices!

Mindset is transparent when your a blogger. Readers can feel your emotion through your content and having a positive mindset is crucial to being successful. That being said, I am focusing on doing things that make me happy so when I get ready to write, I am in the best mood possible to create fresh fun posts!

This quote reminds me to stay true to what I believe and to focus on creating organic content that I love to write. I need to focus more on realizing that my blog is an extension of myself and that you all are following me and reading my blog to learn more about me and what I have to say!

It’s important to focus on what makes you happy and focus on your own goals first. Your goals and success aren’t going to become a reality unless you put in the time!

This basically summarizes 2017 for me. Although my life and blog had some ups and downs, I have come to realize that my struggles have only lead to me realizing how blessed I truly am. I have wonderful followers, even though my following is relatively small, a wonderful boyfriend and a supportive family. It’s important to stand back and reflect on how beautiful your life truly is despite the bumpy roads.

This goes along with the last quote but it really is important to seize each day. There are only so many hours in a day so make them count! Some days may be a little more tough, but the reward will be that much more fulfilling.

Although this seems a little negative, it’s important to realize that not everyone is going to like your beliefs, your style or your words. I’m thankful to have never received negative comments on my blog or any social media outlets but it does happen! People will follow and unfollow you but that doesn’t mean that you should take it out on yourself. You have to separate yourself from your blog and social media pages sometimes and not take it personally that someone doesn’t like your content. For every person that doesn’t like your content, there will be more who genuinely enjoy it! More importantly than anyone else loving you or your content, you have to love yourself first!

If you take anything from this post, remember this one! You will only attract people who have the same attitude that you put out there. I am going to the Year with one heck of a positive attitude and I can’t wait to meet even more awesome boss babes to connect with and strengthen my relationship with those of you who have been amazing followers of mine!

I love inspirational quotes because they have a way of shining light on all that’s good in your life. I hope you loved these quotes and be sure to follow me on Pinterest for more inspiration!

Remember my friends, to start each day with hustle and your dreams will become reality.

x- Chelsea

  1. Mindset is everything in everything! Not just blogging, but life! So just keep posting and those followers will come. I am learning it not just as I blog on kenslifesite and my Sandler Strength & Fitness Blog, but as I build my business. Just keep chatting and getting to know people. Respond to their blogs and share yours. Soon you will have more followers! Good luck!
